imam Mahdi in Sunan AbÄ« DÄwÅ«d narration

In Sunan AbÄ« DÄwÅ«d, it has been narrated from Umme Salamah, that His Excellency [Ê»Ali (pbuh)] stated that, ‘MahdÄ« (mgehr) is from my Itrat [household]; he is from FÄá¹­imah (pbuh)’s descendants’.

Besides, Abu DÄwÅ«d and TirmidhÄ«] narrated from Abu Saʽid al-Khudri that His Excellency stated, ‘MahdÄ« (mgehr) is from my descendants. He has a wide forehead and a slim nose. He will fill the world with justice and righteousness; when it has been filled with oppression and injustice. And he will rule for seven years.’

Moreover, it has been narrated that Abu Saʽid said, ‘We were worried about the false innovation after the Prophet (pbuh&h), So we shared it with His Excellency. Then His Excellency stated, “Mahdī (mgehr) will be in my Ummah, he will emerge and then will rule for five or nine years. There, [when] a man asks him for help, The Excellency will donate him so much gold, that his clothes will be filled.

And in Sunan at-TirmidhÄ«, Abu IsḥÄq has narrated that, [Once] His Excellency Amir al-Mu’minin (pbuh) looked at his son, [ImÄm] Ḥuá¹£ayn (pbuh), then stated, ‘This is my son, the Sayyid and the chief of the people. His Majesty the Messenger of God (pbuh&h) called him “Sayyidâ€â€™. It will be brought forth from his loin a man who has the same name as [mine] your Prophet (pbuh&h). He is like him [me] in the creation and he is like him in manner, and he will fill the world with justice.

Also Hafidh Abu Na’im1   who was of famous none- Shia MuḥaddithÅ«n, narrated forty AḥÄdÄ«th from their book “SahÄhâ€.  They include attributes, status, name and lineage of The Excellency. Some of them were narrated by ‘Ali ibn HilÄl2 from his father, as:

[Once] I went to His Majesty the Messenger of God (pbuh&h). He was about to leave the world, and Her Excellency FÄtimÄ (pbuh) was sitting beside his head and crying. As she cried in a loud voice, His Majesty the Messenger of God (pbuh&h) turned his head to her and stated, ‘O, my darling Fatima! What caused you cry? She replied, ‘I am afraid that your nation will waste me after you and will not respect my sanctity.’

There, he stated, ‘O, my darling! Know that, God verily decided to have your father on the earth. So, he Mab’uth him as His Messenger. Again he decided and chose your husband.  And then he revealed to me, that I have you marry him.

1-     He was a medieval Persian Shafi’i scholar and a transmitter of hadith. Born in Buwayhid era Isfahan, he travelled widely, visiting Nishapur, Basra, KÅ«fah, Baghdad, Mecca and Andalusia. He is the presumed author of Hilyat al-awliya’.

2-     Sheikh Ali ibn Hilal al-Jazairi was an ascetic, pious, and comprehensive of the rational and the movable. It is said that in his time he was Shaykh al-Islam and the head of the Shiites. Mohaqeq Karki was his student and praised him for his attributes of jurisprudence and Shaykh al-Islamī. He was one of the contemporary scholars of Shah Ismail I, the head of the Safavid dynasty.
