Ibrāhīm Karkhī said:
A man asked Imam Sādiq (pbuh) if Imam Ali (pbuh) had not been perfected in God`s religion?
The Imam (pbuh) stated, ‘Yes, [of course Imam Ali (pbuh)] was strong.’
The man asked again, ‘So, why could that nation overcome him (pbuh)? Why did not Imam Ali (pbuh) kill them? The Imam (pbuh) answered,
️لوْ تَزَيَّلُوا لَعَذَّبْنَا الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا [فتح/۲۵]
…. If they had been apart,We should certainly have punished the Unbelievers among them with a grievous Punishment.
(Holy Qur`an, Surah AL-FATH, verse 25)
This is God’s destiny that [sometimes] disbelievers and hypocrites carry the deposits1of believers in their loins.
Hence Imam Ali (pbuh) didn’t kill their fathers [ancestors], in order for those deposits to be born [afterward].
Our Qa`em (mgehr) does the same;
he won’t emerge unless the deposits of the Almighty God are born.
Then, he will defeat and kill whoever deserves.
1-By “deposits” in the hadith, it refers to genes.
