You are more likely to be present at [Imam Ḥusayn (pbuh)’s] ritual.

Every night, my Jamkarani’s1 heart is [like] your orphan. [I miss you”Imam Mahdi (hgr)” like an orphan who misses his/ her father!]

Come, my darling. I’m at the end of rope!

I asked the winds your address.

It has been ages, I beseechingly searched for your address. [by address they mean; meeting the imam]

My youth passed, but I haven’t meet your countenance. [Here it refers to the Imam’s holy face].

I’m ashamed of my youth, as having had such a [unsatisfactory] life!

Let me know, wherever you set up the tent.

Tell me, why do you let me be miserable? [I’m miserable without you]

Although tears have clogged your throat, in this decade. [The first decade of MuḼarram].2

Call me with your nice heavenly voice, one night.
You are more likely to be present at [Imam Ḥusayn (pbuh)’s] ritual.
Maybe you call me, because of commemoration of your Uncle. [Since you love you uncle ‘Abbās].

I have been both, old with agony; because your Zaynab [Imam Ḥusayn’s sister]’s spines got curved of that great suffering, 3

and, mournful; because of those rattan- stricken lips. [When they brought Imam Ḥusayn’s head for Yazid I, and he stroke them.]

These days [the first decade], you understand me!

Calm down my stormy heart [and it’s like a volcano], with your hands.

It’s not good for your beggar [me] to be homeless.

[Please] agree that, I’m one of Sahib al-Zaman [Imam Mahdi (hgr)]’s servants.

Dear Sir! [Imam Mahdi (hgr)]

It’s not your fault,

if I can’t see your picture.
I’m [like] a mirror, covered with dust.

2-    In the first decade of MuḼarram, Imam Ḥusayn and his majesty ‘Abbās were martyrs; as fighting with the cruel the forces of Yazid I, the Umayyad caliph. [Imam Ḥusayn (pbuh) was killed on the tenth day “Ashura” and his brother; his majesty’Abbās (pbuh) was killed on the ninth day” Tāsū‘ā”].

3-    Zaynab (pbuh) began mourning and making speeches against Imam Ḥusayn ibn Ali’s opponents: Ibn Ziyad and Yazid I. Hence, the news of Imam Husayn ibn Ali (pbuh)’s death was spread.
