Once a person asked Imam Sadiq (pbuh), “Can we say to Imam Qa`em1 (hgr)’ Asalam o Alaik ya Amir al-Mu`minin [Islamic way of saying Hello]?’ ”
The Imam (pbuh) replied:
“No, this is a name that God allocated to [just] Imam Ali (pbuh), and [since then] no one calls himself so, except an unbeliever.”
The man said to the Imam (pbuh), “May I be thy ransom! How should they greet him, then?”
The Imam (pbuh) stated:
“[They] say, “Asalam o Alaika ya baghiat Allah”2, and then he (pbuh) read this verse:
“That which is left you by Allah is best for you, if ye (but) believed! (The holy Qur`an, Surah Hud, the verse 86)”
Qa`em (it`s one of Imam Mahdi`s title that means he arises for truth)-1
Baghiat Allah (it`s one of Imam Mahdi`s title that means he left us by Allah)-2
