The first group that opposes Imām Zamān (mGehr) is the Christian Zionists. They are a group within Protestant Christianity who believe that one of the main conditions for the emergence of the Excellency Jesus (pbuh) is the establishment of a false and illegitimate government of Israel.
To support this illegitimate government, they have promoted the idea of “Armageddon.” They believe that Armageddon is an area near Haifa in Palestine and that the Third World War will take place there. They falsely claim that the main figure in this war will be the anti-Christ Mahdī (mGehr), who will defeat the Excellency Jesus (pbuh) through his Muslim companions.
The second group consists of misleading sects, such as Wahhabism, whose followers include ISIS, and Bahāʾism, whose founders were originally Muslims. However, they introduced a new prophet and rejected the Twelve Infallible Imāms (pbuh).
The third group consists of false intellectuals. They have attempted to interpret Islam in a distorted manner and persuade people to deny or reject some of the Principles of the Religion.
The fourth group consists of some malevolent and pessimistic Orientalists. They have attempted to present Mahdaviat on the basis of false claims and superstitions. One example of such Orientalists is James Darmesteter.
The fifth group of enemies consists of false claimants. Throughout history, they have attempted to lead people astray. They have also discouraged people from referring to the Mujtahids [Shiʿa scholars who serve as authoritative sources of religious guidance for Shiites].
