Surely (as for) those who believe and do good deeds for t them will Allah bring about love. (Surah Maryam)
This verse tells us that love (not other attributes that we may think are love, but actual love), will come only after belief. Interestingly this verse comes at the end of Surah Maryam and Lady Maryam was the mother whose practices created for her a prophet son who brought love to the world and through this heart ability of his (Allah’s gift), was able to bring the dead to life with the permission of Allah. Interestingly, surah TÄhÄ is the next surah that is recommended to be recited for marriage. It seems that Allah is telling us that if we want real love – work on our belief in Me (Allah) and then enter the sacred valley of Tuwa and remove everything else from your hearts (trust and reliance on Allah) and I will bring for your love (Translation: This trust will build love in your heart).
The rising number of divorces in the world and in the Ummah, paired with or manifested by the conditions we have put on marriage (materiality), show us that belief has downspiraled.
It also tells us that there is hope – increasing trust and reliance on Allah (through duas and spiritual work) can and will (if done) bring about a positive spiral of relief for marriages in the Ummah.
Of course, the children are the fruit of the tree so this message is for the parents more than the children because PARENTS choose the marriage if the children THROUGH THEIR LIVES (not at the time of physical and practical choice which is what many think, that is the effect not the place of involvement because a child gets to choose the spouse based on what the parent has created WITHIN that child).
