[Surah  Al-baqare] و لنبلونکم بشی من الخوف و الجوع و نقص من الاموال و النفس و الثمرات و بشر الصبرین

Translation:

Be sure we shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil), but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere.

Abu Basire1 has narrated from Imām Sadīq (pbuh), that His Excellency stated:

 

Before Qāʾim comes [emerges], necessarily there will be a year in which the people suffer from hunger. Also they will have a severe fear of: Being killed, having reduction of property, short the life span and a pervasive crop failure. This was written in the book of God [Quran], so clear as a day].

[After that, he recited the above verse]
