The first person who denied Imam Mahdī (mgehr)’s birth, was (his uncle;) Jaʿfar.
He used to severely prevent the distribution of [the Imam (mgehr)’s] birth news!!
[In addition, in the book “Al-Fiá¹£al fÄ« al-milal wa-al-ahwÄʼ wa-al-niḥal] Ibn Ḥazm1 created ambiguity in the birth issue.
He wrote of His Excellency [Imam MahdÄ« (mgehr)]’s nonexistence till Imam ‘Askari (pbuh) death.
Muḥammad Is‘af al-Nashashibi2 said, ‘Imam  ‘Askari (pbuh) didn’t have any son or daughter!’
But based on a lot of Shia and Sunnī sources which proved [the Imam (mgehr)’s] birth,
not only did not these words have historical authenticity, but rather smelled of malice
1-   Ibn Hazm’s grandfather Sa’id and his father Ahmad both held high advisory positions in the court of the Umayyad Caliph Hisham II. Scholars believe that they were Iberian Christians who converted to Islam. So, he didn’t respect Shias.
2-Â Â Â He was a philosopher and poet, but not in total agreement with Shia believes.
