In the Hadith of Thaqalayn, it has been not only mentioned but stipulated that;
the Book of God [Qur’an]and the Prophet (pbuh&h)’s Itrat [his family] are the very twins.
[The ones] that the Prophet (pbuh&h) advised his Ummah about them,
In the book “Sunan of Termethy” [one of authentic books of Sunnis], it reads:
In Hajjat-ol-Vida’e [the last Hajj], Prophet Muhammad (pbuh&h) has stated:
I have left among you two things you will never go astray as long as you hold fast to them:
[They are] God’s holy writ [Qur’an] that is [like] a string hanging from heaven to the earth, and my Household and family.
Since the subject†Imam Mahdi (hgr)†is so important item, and on the other hand, “Al-sihÄh Al-sittah”[1] are the most valid and authentic narration books of Sunni, in next posts you will read some contents which are documented to these six books.
I hope Sunni brothers address the issue of Mahdaviiat [Mahdism] more accurately, God willing.
Most Sunni scholars believe that after the Qur’an, there hasn’t been revealed any book, as great and authentic as the book “Sahih BukhÄri.
In the eighth volume of the book Sahih BukhÄri it reads:
Do you know the meaning of “TawÄtor”?
If a narration has too much narrators
to collude on falsity, it will be called “MotawÄter”.
It means there is no doubt about its correctness.
Ibn KhalkÄn wrote, “The mentioned Imam [Imam Mahdi (hgr)] was born on Rabi’ al-Awal 9th, 258 A.H
It also has been said that he was born on the eighth of the same, 258 A.H; which is correct to us.”
(VafiyÄt al-A’yÄn, Vol.1, P.571)
KamÄl al-Din Muhammad Shafe’I said:
1- “Sunan” of Abu DÄwood has 5274 ʼAḥÄdÄ«th [Hadiths].
And twelve of them in the volume four, part “KitÄb al-Mahdi†are about Imam Mahdi (hgr).
2-“Sunan” of Tirmidhi: In AbwÄb al-Ghadr, there is a chapter named “MÄ JÄ’a fi al-Mahdi”.
In this chapter four ʼAḥÄdÄ«th are explicitly [mentioned] about Imam Mahdi (hgr).
They say [the twelve caliphs] are as follows: Abubakr, Umar, UthmÄn, Imam Ali (pbuh), Yazid, Mu’Äwiyah bin Yazid, MarwÄn ibn Hakam, Abd-ol-Malik ibn MarwÄn, Walid ibn Abd-ol-Malik, SolaymÄn ibn Abd-ol-Malik and Umar ibn Abd-ol-Aziz. (‘Awn al-Ma’bud, V.11, P.361)
But there is a question as:
Did YazÄ«d who martyred the Prophet’s very dear grandson [Imam Ḥusayn (pbuh)],
A lot of Sunni scholars have written books regarding Imam Mahdi (hgr).
For example, the first one who wrote an independent book about Imam Mahdi (hgr)
was “IbÄd ibn Ya’qÅ«b Rawajati”.
His book is “AkhbÄr Al-Mahdi”.
He lived in Imam Askari (pbuh)’s lifetime,
A large number of Sunni scholars have stated that, believing in the Promised Mahdi (hgr) is an agreement case for Muslims.
Evan some people say, “The denier of Mahdi (hgr)’s emergence, is a heathen.” They also have quoted some narrations in this area.
Some of them believe that “The denier of Mahdi (hgr) must be kiled.”
